Mineer Family Reunion

banner For the first time the Mineer Reunion was held outside of Utah, we had a wonderful time in Avila Beach with the more than 70 Mineers'!

Judy did such great job of organizing, from the accommodations and meals to the non-stop fun activities!  The kids had a great time (how could they not with all those second cousins to play with!) on the beach building sand castles and boogie boarding! The adults enjoyed golf, relaxing, great food, and even better company!

One of the traditions of the Mineer Family Reunions is the Talent Show.  There is a lot of talent in this family:  cloggers, magicians, and entertainers of all sorts!

Nick told some great jokes…….DSCN1232

and Carli amazed the family with a story.

A huge thank you to Judy for all her hard work and to Grandma Dorthy for starting this all and her generosity! gma d close up

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth…

I know that it is a little early for Christmas songs but we have been singing this one because Nick lost both his front teeth in the last 2 days!

Birthday Boy…..

We celebrated Jason’s birthday a day late, he was at a passing tournament on his birthday, where the Mustangs were the Runner-Up!  So on Sunday we went to San Diego and to the Padres game at Petco Park.  It wasn’t the best game but Petco is awesome and it was Carli and Nick’s first  major league game.  We had a great time!

We had lunch at Dick’s Last Resort- if you haven’t been to one- you should go!  Instead of the usual polite, nice hostess and waiter, everyone is rude!  And they encourage you to do the same!  Everyone wears a bib- and they made the kids hats- great fun!

Go Padres!

And finally we made a stop at the Tilted Kilt- where Jason’s birthday wishes came true! DSCN1217

He was also lucky enough to receive the Goins Family Traveling Trophy!

( you saw it here: http://thethornburgfamily.blogspot.com/2008/08/35-years.html )

Some people refer to him as “that d*** frog” but we are displaying him with pride!

Bloggy Flip-flop Exchange!

This is a long overdue post- sorry bloggy friends- I have been having some technical difficulties! That combined with the fact that during the summer time really gets away from me, I can lay around all day and just knit and read! I can't believe how time flies!

My great, very creative and always motivated friend from high school, Becca at The Texas Darlings hosted a Bloggy Flip-flop Exchange! I was lucky to get to know and send a package to Nancy at The Powell Family. It was fun to get to know her through her blog!

Of course the best part was getting my own package in the mail! I scored not one, but TWO pairs of flip-flops, thanks to Allison at All About Ali! As you all know a girl can never have too many flip-flops, so a big THANK YOU Ali! I absolutely love them!

The second part of the exchange was to send a small gift from where you live- I received this very cute "Texas" themed dish towel! I love it, again thank you Ali!

This was so much fun, thank you Becca for organizing- I am looking forward to the next one! :)
I had so much fun getting to know everyone that I might even join you in Friend Makin' Mondays!
